We love a festival in Wisconsin. In the past, we’ve told you about awesome Winter Festivals, as well as some weird and wonderful small town festivals. But there’s something extra wonderful about a street fair. Closing down part of town and wandering the streets just makes the celebration feel that much more special. Here are a few of the awesome street fairs you’ll find across the state:
- Mill Street Festival - Plymouth
Facebook/PlymouthWICOC This party takes place July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this year. There are two stages of entertainment as well as delicious food to eat and lots of different vendors to visit. A petting zoo and pony rides will be located behind the Mill Street Festival at Stayer Park.
- Bastille Days - Milwaukee
Wikimedia/Dori This awesome French festival takes place July 12-15 this year. You can join the Storm the Bastille Run through downtown streets, check out the replica Eiffel Tower, snack on delicious food and be entertained by multiple stages. Centered around Cathedral Square Park, the festival ranges out on several streets from there.
- Main Street Festival - Whitewater
Facebook/WhitewaterWI Held in the heart of downtown Whitewater, this arts festival invites you to explore galleries, local shops and restaurants and to experience the many diverse forms of the arts in the city. The streets are closed to traffic and are filled with music, artist and craft vendors, and food. It takes place this year on September 15, 2018 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Art Fair on the Square - Madison
Facebook/ArtFairontheSquare July 14 and 15 appear to be popular days for street fairs. This one takes place around the Capitol in Madison as well as fanning out onto nearby streets. Hundreds of vendors showcase their wares and there’s plenty of interactive stops as well.
- Rogers Street Days - Two Rivers
Manitowoc.com This historic fishing village holds their festival on August 10 and 11. The free festival serves as a fundraiser to keep this historic part of our state alive. There’s live music, plenty to eat, and fun for the whole family.
- Stockholm Street Dance
DiscoverWisconsin On June 2, 2018, the streets of Stockholm will fill with polka music as the locals celebrate the official beginning of summer.
- Eat and Greet on the Street - Brown Deer
Facebook/BrownDeer On the street in the original Brown Deer Village, it’s a chance to eat and dance and hang out with your neighbors. Takes place June 2, 2018 from 2-10 p.m.
- Oktoberfest - Appleton
Appleton Oktoberfest The call it “Appleton’s Largest Block Party” as College Avenue gets turned into their very own version of Oktoberfest. September 28 and 29, grab some friends and plan to dance, drink and be merry!
- Open Streets - Green Bay
Facebook/OpenStreetsGreenBay This unusual but awesome event allows folks to bike, run, walk and otherwise get out and be active on the streets of Green Bay without having to worry about traffic. On July 14, plan to get out and be healthy and active. There’s no registration - it’s not a race. Just a way to enjoy your beautiful city.
- Apple Festival - Bayfield
Facebook/Bayfield.Apple.Festival Taking place on October 5, 6 and 7 this year, the Apple Festival takes over Bayfield. Tour orchards and wineries as you celebrate the harvest. There’s a fish fry, a parade and so much more.
- Willy Street Fair - Madison
Facebook/WillyStreetFair This totally free festival is two days and features seven stages across three blocks, hundreds of food and crafts vendors, local musicians and performers. It takes place on Saturday, September 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Brady Street Festival - Madison
Facebook/BradyStreetBID On July 28, one of Milwaukee’s funkiest, most eclectic streets shuts down for an amazing party. There are four stages of entertainment to enjoy. The fun starts at 11 a.m. and goes til midnight.
- Strawberry Festival - Cedarburg
Facebook/FestivalsofCedarburg Cedaburg is home to quite a few festivals, but the Strawberry Fest might be the most well known. Downtown’s main drag becomes a place for eating, shopping, and tons of fun. Sign up for the pancake breakfast. The festival takes place June 23-24 this year.
- Madison Winter Festival
Facebook/MadisonWinterFestival This festival takes place all over the city, but the coolest part is how much you get to do right there in the streets around the Capitol. From skiing down the street to sledding hills, ski jumps and more, there’s so much to love and enjoy about this festival. Join one of the many races, learn a new winter activity and more. It takes place the first week in February.
