We’ve looked at some hilarious Minnesota laws before, but we’re back at it with nine more that range from silly to downright insane. A recent initiative worked to repeal over 1,100 of Minnesota’s craziest laws, but at one time or another these were likely on the books, and that alone is crazy enough for us. Listed below are nine weird laws in Minnesota, including some that will really surprise you. 

  1. It’s illegal to harbor a dirty threshing machine in Minnesota.

  1. A 937 law says it’s illegal to drive a car in neutral in Minnesota. But, why would you even try?

  1. Apparently, growing a Japanese barberry bush can mean jail time in Minnesota. This plant is strictly regulated. As of January 1, 2018, they will be Restricted Noxious Weeds.

  1. Hamburgers may not be eaten on Sundays in St. Cloud according to some rumors. But clearly that law isn’t around anymore, or at least not enforced, thankfully. So we can eat our hamburgers, we just can’t buy liquor to go with them.

  1. Supposedly, there’s a 10 cent bounty for each rat head brought into a town office in Minnesota. Is it really worth the 10 cents though?

  1. As of 2015, the bingo law has been reversed. Seniors rejoice! It used to be illegal for nursing homes and senior centers to host bingo more than two days per week.
