The First Americans Museum (FAM) just opened in September 2021 after years of funding delays and over three decades of planning. Here, visitors can experience the collective histories of 39 distinctive First American Nations in Oklahoma today. It’s not only educational but the architecture is a sight to behold.

FAM is located in Oklahoma City, along the Oklahoma River across from downtown at 659 First Americans Boulevard. It serves as a starting point to explore First American attractions throughout the Sooner State.

The museum is 175,000 sq. ft. and the buildings make up one big circle. You will notice there are no right angles in the building, as they are seen as bad luck, or bringing bad luck.

The Tribal Nations Gallery is a signature exhibition that features works of art, interactive media, and film, and engages guests through sight, sound and touch.

The museum has a partnership with Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. They currently have 135 items on loan from Smithsonian for 10 years.
