Arizona has plenty of ghost towns, but very few are accessible via hike. That’s what makes the Richinbar Mine and Pueblo Trail so special! Not only does this hike lead to old mining ruins and ancient petroglyphs, but it’s also short and easy. Take this Arizona ghost town hike for an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Located just off the Arizona Veterans Highway near Crown King, Richinbar Mine & Pueblo Trail is an easy, 2.3-mile hike within the Agua Fria National Monument.
AllTrails/Alexis Castaneda With an elevation gain of just over 100 feet, the terrain is flat and even, making the trail suitable for almost all skill levels.
It’s a good thing the hike is so short - there’s so much to see, you’ll want to really slow down and take it all in.

The ruins of an old pueblo - in surprisingly good condition, might we add, sit just off the trail.

Feel free to poke around the homestead - although there isn’t much to see.

You’ll also see a handful of open mine shafts, so keep an eye on the ground if you decide to veer off course.

Ancient petroglyphs are etched into rocks all along the trail, giving the hike even more of a historical flair.

Some people say the hardest part of this hike is getting there. Just keep an eye out for the windmill – the entrance is right before it. Also, avoid the trail after rain, as the dirt road can get quite muddy. Click here to learn more.
