If you’re a train enthusiast or history buff, you’ve got to get your caboose to the Frisco Depot Museum! Bringing the past to life, it’s filled with artifacts, photos, and, best of all, life-size figures that portray depot staff and passengers.

The Frisco Depot Museum is in Mammoth Spring State Park.

Though amazing, the museum is often overshadowed by the park’s namesake, Mammoth Spring. A national natural landmark, it’s one of the biggest springs in the world, pumping 9 million gallons of water hourly!

A true treasure, the museum is housed in Arkansas’ oldest railroad station, an 1886 Frisco Depot.

Though restored, the depot has retained its original Victorian appearance and boasts features like brick walkways, a slate roof, and dormer windows with diamond-shaped panes.

Inside the museum, there are life-size figures, portraying depot attendants, train crew, and passengers performing a variety of tasks.

The posed figures aren’t all you’ll find in the museum, though. There’s also an array of artifacts, displays, and exhibits.

A great visit for all ages, each display is accompanied by an audio presentation. There are also a couple of short videos on the history of the railroad in Mammoth Spring.

Visitors can do more than hear about and look at trains, though. You can actually hop aboard one!

That’s right; visitors are encouraged to climb aboard and explore the caboose that sits right outside the museum.

The best part of all is that it’s FREE to visit the Frisco Depot Museum and caboose!
