However, it isn’t only the beauty that will attract you to this area, but the age of the trees will as well. Many of these cedar trees were seedlings in the late 1400s, making them more than 500 years old today.

Not only are these trees old, but they are also massive. Some of these cedar trees are approximately 10 feet in diameter!

You can spend the entire day at the beautiful Hobo Cedar Grove Botanical Area in Idaho. There is a 0.5-mile nature trail that will take you through a portion of the grove.

At the trailhead, a small box provides brochures that will take you on a self-guided tour of this remarkable cedar grove. You will find numbered paragraphs in the brochure that coincide with posts along the nature trail.

As you walk, you will not only see some of the oldest trees in Idaho, but you will also come across dense carpets of lady fern, small streams, and an occasional log bench if you just want to sit, relax, and enjoy the solitude of the area.
