According to Conde Nast Traveler, one of the most haunted places in America is right in the heart of Savannah – Bonaventure Cemetery.

While many of us are familiar with the fact that Savannah, Georgia is one of the most haunted cities in the United States, it isn’t just the city itself that brings the haunt.

One Southern gothic cemetery in particular in Savannah has taken top honors as one of the most haunted places in America - the famed Bonaventure Cemetery.

For some, this cemetery is one of the most beautiful in the world, with dripping Spanish moss from towering oaks, and flowers that blossom with vibrant color every year.

You might recognize the cemetery as featured in the novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, or you might know it as being the final resting place to a few notable figured from history.

But, many know this cemetery to be the place where the ghost of Little Gracie Watson resides. As the daughter of the hotel manager in the area, Gracie was well-known throughout Savannah. After her death from pneumonia at the age of six, Gracie was given a sculpture in her honor.

However, since her death in 1889, many residents have claimed to have seen Gracie either throughout town or in the cemetery. Today, guests still visiting Gracie’s gravesite to pay their respects and leave gifts behind.

Gracie isn’t the only reason Bonaventure Cemetery is dubbed haunted. Visitors have reported over the years hearing inexplicable sounds, like crying babies late at night, mad, barking dogs, and bouts of laughter.
