While it seems that most of the breweries in Nebraska reside in the cities, there’s one nestled in the Sandhills that makes quality Nebraska beer far away from city lights. It’s just outside of Taylor, and it’s got all the wide-open space you’d expect from a destination way out there.

Bootleg Brewers opened in May 2016, the project of a husband-and-wife team who are totally dedicated to their craft.

The business started out as a hobby for brewmaster Ron Worm and eventually grew into this Sandhills destination that draws visitors from all over despite its remote location.

The large brewing facility features 20 barrels which produce some seriously impressive brews, such as the Sandhills Cream Ale, Muddy Duck (an English brown ale), and the flagship Cling On, a full-bodied American wheat.

There’s a restaurant as well, featuring a two-level dining room that can seat around 200 guests. Here, you can lounge with some friends while sampling the various brews and enjoying some ridiculously tasty food.

…or head outside to the 40-acre beer garden. Yep, you read that right: there’s 40 acres of space to sprawl out on. This has become a popular place for weddings thanks to the picturesque setting.

If you fall in love with this place and just can’t imagine leaving, you can spend the night in one of the cabins or rent a tent cot for the night and sleep under the vivid blanket of stars.

While you’re in the area, don’t forget to visit the town of Taylor itself — it’s one of the quirkiest places in the whole state.
