OK, fine. Delaware is not the kind of state you visit if you want to scale mountains or experience dizzying heights. But even though you won’t find those kind of hikes in the state, you can find hikes that are more difficult as well as hikes that will make your stomach drop for different reasons — like how pretty they are. Consider the Northern Delaware Greenway.
Delaware may be a pretty flat state, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find hikes with amazing views.
Nicole Weeks/AllTrails Consider the Northern Delaware Greenway. It may not be steep with any high-up views, but it still provides some gorgeous sights that will make your stomach swoop.
At 10.4 miles long, the Northern Delaware Greenway connects multiple state parks and sites into one fun, challenging hike.
Deb Colbeck/AllTrails This out-and-back trail is a long one, with 889 feet of elevation change, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and pack water!
The trek brings you to some very cool parts in Delaware.
William Hughes/AllTrails You go past Bellevue State Park, Wilmington State Park, Brandywine Creek State Park, Brandywine Zoo, and Rockford Park, plus Brandywine River, Alapocas Run State Park, and more.
Keep an eye out when you’re walking by the river — you may spot some waterfalls along the way.
Mike Jordan/AllTrails What’s better than a waterfall?
You’ll also see some really intriguing, dramatic rock walls in Alapocas Run State Park.

This trail is actually great for biking, too, if you’d prefer to explore it on two wheels!
Dawn Poulterer-Woods/AllTrails You’ll also find a variety of picnic tables and benches along the way.
If you have plenty of time, make it a real adventure and visit some of the attractions along the way, like the zoo.
Glenn Weissman/AllTrails This is a beautiful, fun trail that will truly take your breath away. For more information about the trail, check with our friends at AllTrails.com, right here.
