The charming town of Concord is the capital of New Hampshire and boasts unique local shops, hip breweries, and a rich history. But there is a darker side to this seemingly quaint New England town. These three ghost stories have haunted parts of Concord for centuries.
The Centennial Hotel and Granite Restaurant & Bar is a Victorian style building erected in the nineteenth century and later converted into a hotel.

Though the hotel has been renovated into a chic, modern accommodation, visitors have claimed to see shadows of former guests moving about the hotel at night. Luckily, they seem to be friendly ghosts, perhaps just seeking an eternal vacation.

This is an odd one. This Margaritas Mexican Restaurant location in Bicentennial Square was built in a former Police Headquarters building and jail. The historic structure and barred windows still remain on the site.

Though the restaurant has become a gathering place for friends and family, it’s hard not to feel the presence of the former convicts. The most notable ghost is “George,” a deceased inmate who causes mischief by moving plates, hiding drinks, and stealing leftovers.

The final ghostly ground is perhaps the most obvious: the historic and eerie New Hampshire State Hospital. Built in 1842 this asylum catered to the insane, which is pretty much a guarantee for a haunting.

Many who visit the hospital have claimed to hear shuffling footsteps and screams still coming from former patients’ rooms. Others say the elevator sometimes runs by itself and books mysteriously drop off shelves. You may want to consider treatment at a different facility if you feel woozy during vacation.
