Kent Falls State Park is renowned as being one of the most beautiful areas of Connecticut. Tucked away in the quiet little town of Kent, it’s deep in the Litchfield Hills region. The park sprawls over 307 acres, with miles of trail to explore. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this gorgeous state park is the stunning waterfall with which it shares its name. Kent Falls is a series of cascading waterfalls that majestically flow down Falls Brook, a tributary of the mighty Housatonic. Not only is this among the prettiest waterfalls in Connecticut, but it’s also one of the most easily accessible, making it a great option for anyone to get out and enjoy nature!

Kent Falls drops in stages over a quarter mile, so it may not be as immediately visually striking as some other waterfalls. However, it does measure 250 feet in height, so it’s officially the tallest waterfall in Connecticut.

There are multiple short trails that will lead you to several observation decks. If you’re up for a bit of a trek and are looking for a higher vantage point, they’re great options.

However, the hike to get to the top is quite steep and not accessible to wheelchair users or those with mobility issues.

The good news is that the there’s a short path leading to the base of the trail that’s much more accessible. It’s wheelchair and stroller-friendly and will only take a few minutes, so the whole family can come along!

You can actually get a pretty good view of Kent Falls from the parking area, without leaving your car. There’s just a big green lawn between you and the majestic falls.

The falls are most impressive in the springtime, when you’ll find the water flow to be at its most powerful.
