There are dozens of historic and rustic places to dine in Wyoming, but none quite captures the spirit of the Cowboy State quite like the Old Faithful Inn. This historic building is one of the most impressive architectural wonders in the world, and we’re lucky to be able to stop in for a meal at this log cabin restaurant in Wyoming when we visit Yellowstone National Park!

The Old Faithful Inn was completed in 1904 and has made an impact on Yellowstone National Park since the first day the doors opened.

When you walk in to this historic landmark, the first thing you’ll notice is the enormous fireplace. The fireplace is made with 500 tons of a native stone that pays tribute to the region’s thermal past.

The stone used to make the foundation and much of the Inn’s structure is called rhyolite, and it was quarried from the Black Sand Basin. This rock was formed by Yellowstone’s volcanic activity!

The Old Faithful Inn offers limited rooms to travelers and visitors, but thousands of people enjoy the building by having a meal in the enormous dining room.

The food, by the way, is delicious. The menu varies, but it’s frequently served buffet style, meaning you can load your plate up with homestyle western cuisine and even go back for seconds!

You can even enjoy a cocktail with your meal, which is a welcome treat after hiking through the geyser basins and nearby mountains.
