Your best bet for exploring the natural area is to set off on the three-mile Thornburg Trail and Johnson’s Trail, paths that are rated easy for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Even though the trail has garnered an easy rating, you’ll definitely want to wear comfy, sturdy shoes. Be prepared for mud, if you’re hiking after wet weather.

Other than the potential for muddy conditions, the trail is predominately flat and usually quiet, except for the serene sounds of nature.

Some of the trail passes alongside a creek and railroad tracks. Wildlife is abundant in the area, and if you’re lucky you might spot a bald eagle.
