The New England Peace Pagoda was the first of its kind to be built in the country. It is part of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist religious order that was founded by the Venerable Nichidatsu Fujii in 1917.

First opened in 1985, this is only one of 80 peace pagodas in the world and is modeled after a pagoda that was built on a Japanese mountain after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

If you want to join the community, the Monks of the Peace Pagoda host an annual Walk For A New Spring in which they walk for several days in Massachusetts. You are invited to walk as many steps with them as you’d like.
