Fort Ransom State Park The Perfect Spot For Your Outdoor Adventure

North of Fort Ransom, North Dakota, tucked in the Sheyenne River Valley, you can find the majestic Fort Ransom State Park. The park acts as a preservation for the Bjone House and Andrew Sunne Farm–two homesteader farms, which are just two of many rental options for those looking to stay in the park overnight.

Fort Ransom State Park is named after the nearby 1860’s military fort, and provides plenty of open room for activities ranging from canoeing to hiking.

If you’re looking for hiking, the park has more than 20 miles of connected trails and loops which can be used for hiking, horseback riding, biking, and in the winter, even cross-country skiing!

One of our favorite hikes is the 2.2 mile walk along the North Country National Scenic Trail. This stretch of trail provides an overlook of the park’s plants and animals, but has grand aspirations to connect to the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail which will stretch over 4,000 miles across the country!

One unique overnight option is the Percheron Wagon, where guests can find a king bed and twin bunk beds. With enough room to sleep the whole family, along with a refrigerator, microwave, and barstools around a wagon wheel table, this luxury wagon is a sight to behold.
