We thought we’d explored pretty much every donut shop in the Beehive State, but it turns out that we missed one – one of the very best shops, it turns out. Check out this little gem in South Salt Lake City:
Welcome to Fresh Donuts & Deli! This tiny donut shop is “hiding” right on the corner of State Street and 2700 South in Salt Lake City, but it’s strangely easy to miss.

This donut shop doesn’t have a website or an official Facebook page, and from the signage it looks like it was once a Winchell’s Donuts. We’re SO glad that it’s no longer a Winchell’s, because the donuts here are much, much better.

People absolutely rave about the glazed donuts at Fresh Donuts & Deli. While we personally prefer chocolate bars to glazed, we have to admit that the glaze on the donuts here is pure perfection. It’s not too gummy, and it doesn’t crumble when you take your first bite out of the donut.

It goes without saying that ordering one donut here is pretty much impossible. They’ll let you buy just one…but only a crazy person with a superhuman amount of willpower could walk out of here with just a single donut. Trust us - you’re going to want at least a dozen.
