We’ve managed to circle back around to the u-pick strawberry season and we couldn’t be happier about the timing! There are several places where you’ll find u-pick strawberries in South Carolina but this one just may be our favorite!

Welcome to McLeod Farms in McBee!

Facebook/McLeod Farms For those who aren’t quite sure where McBee is found: it’s 31 miles northeast of Camden and 31 miles northwest of Florence.

The 2022 u-pick strawberry season begins on April 14 and runs through Saturday May 21. Hours for picking your own are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays only.

Don’t worry about the farm running out of strawberries either.

Facebook/McLeod Farms While the farm itself is more than 5,000 acres, it has a whopping 600 acres dedicated to strawberry fields! (Beatles fans are of course now singing “Strawberry fields… for-ever…”)

Can’t make it on a Saturday during the u-pick season? The McLeod Farms Roadside Market will have plenty of freshly picked strawberries. The Roadside Market is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

While you’re there, either picking or buying the already-picked strawberries, be sure to treat yourself to some warm blackberry cobbler or a warm piece of pie topped with ice cream! Yum.

And who could leave without a selfie strawberry version of where’s Waldo?

McBee may be a tiny little town (population, under 900) but McLeod Farms is not. Strawberry season is just one of the major events that take place here during the year.

Read about others with a visit to the farm’s website. By the way, McLeod Farms has been in operation since 1916 and is currently operated by the fourth and fifth generations of the family that planted the first seeds on this amazing farm. Go check it out and then get some u-pick strawberries in South Carolina!
