Alabama boasts many natural wonders, including waterfalls. While some of the Yellowhammer State’s waterfalls are well known, many others aren’t. One in particular that many people don’t know about is High Falls, and you can read all about it below.
High Falls is located within the Cheaha Wilderness area of the Talladega National Forest.

You can reach this waterfall with a 1-mile, out-and-back hike on the Odum Trail to Odum Point. Even though this trail is 7.5 miles long, you’ll get to experience High Falls at the very beginning.

When most people hear “High Falls,” they think of the sprawling waterfall at High Falls Park in Grove Oak, Alabama. Not many people are aware that a waterfall of the same name is hidden away and waiting to be discovered.

High Falls is a beautiful three-tiered waterfall, with each tier measuring 10 to 15 feet tall. The best time to visit this waterfall is after a heavy rainfall because a lot of water will typically flow down the hillside.

At the beginning of the trail, you’ll hike across lots of rocky terrain. You’ll then walk up a flight of metal stairs, which run along the side of the waterfall, until you reach the top.

The next time you’re in the mood for a waterfall hike, consider hiking Odum Trail to Odum Point. Even though this trail has a hard rating in terms of difficulty, once you reach High Falls, the journey will be well worth it.
