Located between Perkins and Millen, this 1,070-acre state park opens in the 1930s and has since been drawing in crowds year after year.

One of the true highlights of this park is the crystal clear spring smack dab in the middle, which is said to pump out seven million U.S. gallons per day.

But beyond just the aesthetic beauty of this park, it’s also quite functional as well. There are a handful of different hiking trails that can be enjoyed, each rated as easy-to-moderate.

Start with the 0.5-mile Woodpecker Woods Nature Trail with features a boardwalk spanning over the actual spring. This hike is great for photos and to see common woodpeckers!

Meanwhile, the Beaver Trail is 1.5-miles in length and a great trail to hike and spot some wildlife that calls the park home.

There’s also the Fort Lawton Historic Trail which is about one mile in length and showcases a historic area that was important during the Civil War.
