Florida doesn’t have too many overlooks, vistas, high points, or mountains to get a solid view of the surrounding area. But what we lack in elevation, we make up for in man-made towers. Take the Shark Valley Observation Tower as the perfect example. This giant tower overlooks the Florida Everglades, and somewhat resembles a miniature Space Needle, despite being only a fraction of the height. Not only are the views alone worth checking out, but the trip to get there is well worth it, too.

One of the best ways to get the most out of your visit to the Florida Everglades National Park is by trekking to the Shark Valley Observation Tower.

Once you get to the observation tower, you’ll ascend to the highest elevation you can reach by foot in the entire park - 70 feet into the sky.

The views from the top of the tower stretch 20 miles panoramically in every direction, which offers such a uniquely wonderful vantage point of the various Everglades landscapes.

Built back in 1984, this giant tower spirals into the sky for one of the best views in Florida. Spreading out as far and wide as you can imagine, keep your eyes peeled for alligators, river otters, and birds galore.

Just imagine everything you’ll see when the entire park is laid out in front of you.

It’s worth noting that you cannot drive your car to the observation tower, the tram is the only automobile that can transport you to and from the parking lot. Otherwise, guests do enjoy taking the trail by foot or by bike.

Also, the walkway to the top of the tower is wheelchair accessible.
