While Vermont is full of small towns that have plenty of charm and character, Roxbury is definitely one of the most unique. Aside from this tiny town’s population of under 1000, Roxbury’s claim to fame is that it’s located in the center of Vermont.
Roxbury is a heavily forested and mountainous part of Vermont. And while the geographic center of the state is technically three miles from Roxbury Village, it’s still worth visiting this quaint New England town. To reach Roxbury, take route 12A north or south. When you arrive, stop by the charming library to get a feel for the town. You’ll probably find a book or two about the town’s geographical location on the shelves too.

The town is surrounded by tons of greenery. This includes Roxbury State Forest which spans over 5617 acres and is used for a variety of purposes including protecting wildlife and recreation.

In addition to being in the heart of Vermont, there are a few cemeteries in town that visitors can check out. One of them, Roxbury Cemetery, is featured in this photo.
