Heads up, Delaware – our best kept secrets are slowly being leaked! Recently, our very own community of Milton was named one of the best small towns in the country for a charming and family-friendly vacation. We couldn’t agree more! It’s always such a joy to see Delaware towns being elevated and spotlighted in ways that will bring the things we love some national attention. So, why did Milton get the nod?

This beautiful and charming coastal town is a bit of an underrated gem. It’s not far from Rehoboth Beach or Lewes, but doesn’t come with the traffic or the premium prices of our towns directly on the water.

Despite not being known as a truly seaside town, though, there’s plenty of water to enjoy in Milton! Waples Pond is a great spot for a picnic or to catch the sunset on a beautiful and clear day.

In town, charming antique shops and farmers markets draw shoppers all year long. If you’re looking for a place to treat yourself or to go gift shopping, you’re sure to find it!

Of course, no trip to Milton is complete without a tour of Dogfish Head Brewery.

This homegrown brewery is known for being quirky, unique, and - in their own words - off-centered.
