Morton Arboretum is a 1,700-acre botanical garden heavily focused on trees, science, education, and conservation. It was founded in 1922 by Joy Morton, the founder of Morton Salt Company. His father, J. Sterling Morton, founded Arbor Day.

In spring and summer, you’ll be able to see the gardens and wildflowers in full bloom. From mid-April through late May, there are areas where you can see Virginia bluebells in bloom among the trees and it’s an extraordinary sight.

Fall brings autumnal hues across the landscape at Morton Arboretum. With over one million trees on the property, you may expect breathtaking scenery.

There are 16 miles of hiking trails to explore the property by foot. If you prefer the comfort of a vehicle or bike, there are nine miles of roads that will lead you through incredible scenery.
