North Dakota might not top many lists for beautiful travel destinations, but that’s only because people overlook it. There are many hidden gems within the Peace Garden State that are worthy of visiting – you just have to know where to look. One place that many locals recommend any time someone asks for places to visit is the Theodore Roosevelt National Park since it’s easily one of the most – if not the – most beautiful spots in the state. Conde Nast Traveler made a list of all the prettiest spots in every state and the TRNP was given that title for our lovely state, and we couldn’t agree more. Here’s just a glimpse into the most beautiful park we’ve got; when it comes to national parks to visit in North Dakota, we think this one ought to top your list.

The river itself is cool and clear, and you might never want to leave. Lake Metigoshe State Park is another must-do, featuring one of our most awe-inspiring lakes and plentiful opportunities for camping, hiking, fishing, and more. You can’t miss a visit to Lewis and Clark State Park, Fort Ransom State Park, or Grahams Island State Park.
