Want to take a little vacation (a stay-cation) where you won’t have to travel too far from home – or break the bank paying for the trip? Our state parks are a wonderful resource just waiting to be explored and most of them rarely feel overcrowded. Stay for the day, an over nite, or longer. Most of them have many lodging options that almost always include at least camping. But in some of the parks it’s possible to rent a cabin in South Carolina and hunker down for a few days of rest and relaxation.
You’ll probably be interested to know that not all of the parks charge the same rental rates for their cabins. At Barnwell State Park, for instance, it’s possible to rent a cabin for less than $100 per night!

The park boasts five small cabins for rent, plus three fishing lakes, and three miles of trails for hiking.
AllTrails/Mike Pratt The Barnwell State Park Loop is a 1.6-mile hike filled with wonderful views. It also slips in and out from under the forest canopy.
In case you’re not entirely familiar with Barnwell State Park, it’s located in Blackville, South Carolina, in Barnwell County.
AllTrails/Michael Connelly You may recognize the name of Blackville from South Carolina’s famous Fountain of Youth known as God’s Acre Healing Spring. The spring is only six miles from the state park, so go pay it a visit!
Back at the state park, three nice-sized lakes are perfect for fishing.

And if you prefer to camp, bring your camper or hunker down in a tent.
TripAdvisor/WeTravel12050 The campground has standard sites (electric and water) and those with full hookups for RVs (electric, water, and sewer). RVs of up to 36 feet can be accommodated in certain sites.
In the summer, swim in the lake to cool off in the hot sun.

How about a little staycation this year? It’s the perfect way to take a spur-of-the-moment trip where you won’t spend all of your time driving — or all of your dough paying for it.
