Guess what, North Carolina?!! Our second alpine coaster just opened a couple months ago and we couldn’t be happier to have two mountain coasters in North Carolina to whirl us through the mountainside. Let’s check the new one out:
The Scaly Screamer Mountain Coaster opened in late September 2021 at Scaly Mountain - also known as Highlands Outpost in Scaly Mountain (map below).

Hop aboard and prepare to scream in delight along the 3,800-foot track that whirls and twirls through the mountain terrain.

Scaly Mountain Screamer boasts of being the longest mountain coaster in the state and it includes some thrilling 360-degree turns that just may make a chill run up your spine.

The website says the Screamer is open through January 10th, however, the website’s calendar clearly details the coaster is open weekends through March 26.
Facebook/Scaly Mountain OC Coaster tickets are sold in-person on a first-come, first-served basis so get there early if you want to ride. But don’t think the Scaly Screamer is the only activity you’ll find here at Highlands Outpost.
There’s also a snow tubing hill!

Don’t worry if it’s not snowing, Highlands Outpost at Scaly Mountain has a snow making machine that solves that issue.
