While there are some impressive stores scattered around the Beehive State, there is one store that we are especially proud of — Smith and Edwards. This 171,000-square-foot store in Utah is exceptionally large and is where you can find the most random and fantastic treasures. In fact, be careful when you walk inside because you may find you want to spend all day browsing its aisles.
Smith and Edwards has two locations in Utah — West Jordan and Ogden. The Ogden location opened its doors more than 70 years ago and at 171,000 square feet, it is certainly no small brick-and-mortar store.

This store actually began in the backyard of Bert Smith’s West Ogden home in 1947.
Smith & Edwards/Google The store began as a surplus business for Smith and his Marine Corp shipmate, Lawrence Edwards. In a few short years, business boomed and a backyard was no longer sufficient. In the 1950s, Smith and Edwards purchased 60 acres in Farr West and this is where you can still find this unique store today.
