Many natural attractions require visitors to make a long hike to receive the reward. This is not one of those cases. The biggest challenge in discovering the signature outcropping of the Bald Rock Heritage Preserve in South Carolina is finding the unmarked turnoff to the parking area from U.S. 276. From there, it is merely a short stroll across the wooden footbridge to the stunning, football field-sized rock that offers views of roughly 30 miles in various directions, including the sight of Table Rock.

The combination of walking on Bald Rock and being able to see sights such as Table Rock in the distance makes the turnoff from U.S. 276 worth a stop. Many visitors label the views “breathtaking.”

Admission is free and Bald Rock is open daily from dawn to dusk.
