When people focus on restaurants in Connecticut, a lot of the attention tends to go towards places on the shore. New Haven, after all, is the birthplace of Connecticut-style apizza. Many of our beach towns have destination restaurants that people travel for miles to reach. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t delicious eateries tucked away elsewhere, like in the beautiful Litchfield Hills. Today we’re featuring a spot that seems tailor made for indecisive diners who struggle to decide where to eat. Wood’s Pit BBQ and Mexican Cafe specializes in barbecue and Mexican cuisine, and it’s hidden away in the little borough of Bantam.
Bantam is a tiny little area that you’d miss if you blinked while passing. It’s only about one square mile in area, with less than 1,000 people living in it.

It may seem surprising to have such seemingly diverse dishes on the menu, but it comes naturally to the restaurant’s owner.
