If you love a good scare, Idaho is a terrific place to be. From haunted hotels to haunted parks, there are creepy locations all around the state that will send chills down your spine. The northern part of the state is home to many haunted locations, including one of the creepiest hikes in Idaho. From unexplainable sounds to a miner’s grave, this hike is sure to give you a fright.
Welcome to the White Pine National Recreation Trail. This hiking trail is located in the beautiful St. Joe National Forest in the panhandle.

This is a large 3.5-mile loop trail that takes you through the thick, lush, and beautiful St. Joe National Forest. However, there are also a series of other trails that branch off this main trail and take you to unique sights and gorgeous views.

Whether you stay on the main trail or you venture onto the many others, you will walk into a deep forest with towering Cedar Trees.

If you take the second fork in the main path, you may notice the hairs on your arm begin to stand up. The tall, thick trees and the forest sounds combine to create quite the creepy experience.
Austin Reagan/AllTrails On this path, you will eventually come to an old, abandoned campground. Next to the campground is the gravesite of a young miner named Frank Heller who died in 1936. You will see a small cabin off to the side, which is where his body was found.
While the gravesite is quite spooky and there are reports of Heller haunting this trail and area, he isn’t the only spirit you may encounter on this hiking trail.

Many hikers report hearing screams and calls from the river. It is believed that these noises are from individuals who died while rafting the river.

Other hikers have also reported hearing distant voices and unexplained sounds as they walked through the forest, however, they were the only ones nearby.
