Canyonlands National Park is one of the most breathtaking areas in the country. The colorful rocks, rivers, and endless sky at the park combine to make it look like something out of a movie.

The park is divided into three sections: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, and the Maze. Of these sections, the Maze is the most difficult to access.
Nikki Hamre/Alltrails The Island in the Sky is a beautiful mesa with lots of great overlooks. The Needles feature many well-preserved Native American carvings into the rock faces. The Maze is exactly what it sounds like: a natural maze made of rocks.
Outside Magazine named The Maze as one of the 20 most dangerous hikes in the entire world.

The eight-mile trail is not for the faint of heart.

Park rangers emphasize to visitors how dangerous the area is. Since it’s so hard to reach, it doesn’t attract beginner hikers and there have never been any fatalities on the trail.
Marlene King/Alltrails Sixteen people have fallen to their deaths in other areas of the Canyonlands Park, however.
This is an absolutely stunning place, but it’s also a dangerous one!
