It’s no secret that the United States has many beautiful waterfalls all across the nation. The most popular, such as Niagara Falls, draw visitors from all over the country and world. But we believe that Minnesota’s waterfalls rival even the most beautiful that you’ll find in other parts of the country – especially one Minnesota waterfall in particular. We believe the most beautiful waterfall in America is right here in Minnesota, and it isn’t Niagara Falls. It’s Gooseberry Falls on Minnesota’s North Shore, and it’s absolutely stunning. Check it out:

Gooseberry Falls is found on Minnesota’s North Shore, at Gooseberry Falls State Park. It’s near the small town of Two Harbors, about 40 miles north of Duluth.

Like all Minnesota state parks, Gooseberry Falls is full of trails. There are around 20 miles of hiking trails in the park.

The trails lead through the woods and along the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior. Here, you can follow the line of the shore to find the mouth of the Gooseberry River where it meets Lake Superior.

But of course, the most popular trail is the one that leads farther upstream, to Gooseberry Falls. It’s a short hike from the parking lot to reach this spectacular destination.

The Gooseberry River tumbles over a high, rugged cliff into the pool below before rushing off to meet Lake Superior.

The sight of the water rushing over the uneven cliffs is truly spectacular. There are many spots along the top and base of the waterfall to see things up close. Sometimes, it is possible to wade into the water.

There’s a reason this gorgeous waterfall is the most popular in the state: it is simply that beautiful. Thanks to its natural surroundings - a forested area bordered by Lake Superior - we think this waterfall is the most beautiful in the nation!
