But Montana’s liveliest ghost town is exactly where you’ll find The Road Agents’ Roost, a family-owned eatery that happens to serve German dishes alongside its burgers and fries. And while the restaurant is fairly new, the building’s history goes back much, much farther.

The Road Agents’ Roost is located in the heart of historic Virginia City in the old Herndon & Donaldson Furniture Store.

Don’t let this charming site fool you. During Prohibition, this space was used as a bootlegger parlor.
