There are many incredible places in Nevada to catch a sunrise or sunset reflecting off of ancient hills and rocks. There is no place, however, quite like the Valley of Fire. This place is world-renowned for the beauty of its outcroppings and its limestone background against the red of its Aztec sandstone. There’s one time of day you don’t want to miss in the Valley of Fire, and it’ll have you getting up early to go and explore this incredible park.
One of the main draws of the Valley of Fire is its petroglyphs and petrified trees. These date back more than two thousand years.

Watching the sun come up over this valley, though? There’s nothing like the red sky over those red rocks.

There’s also a visitor center, but they’re not quite open this early. You can always come back in the afternoon to enjoy a little park interpretation! We will say one thing: that sunrise is worth missing a lot for, but the park is its own wonder. Any time of day you can make it is a great time of day to be there.

The park is open year-round and has a number of wonderful campsites with grills, water, and shaded tables. There are also many trails to tempt those prone to taking lovely hikes.

But our recommendation? Go at sunrise and just spend your time soaking up the morning rays. The sunrise at the Valley of Fire never disappoints, and there’s no reason to even hike when all the natural beauty is coming to you in the great expanse of the very sky itself.
