Ever heard of the maxim “big things can come in small packages?” One small restaurant in New York that definitely lives by that motto is the fantastic Mother’s Cupboard. This tiny shack in Syracuse is minuscule and almost looks more like a fruit stand than a restaurant. You’d be forgiven for not expecting much, given the outside of the premises. But inside, you’ll find some delectable dining. While we haven’t measured every pancake from every breakfast restaurant in New York, we’re willing to bet that these are some of the biggest (and most delicious) pancakes in the Empire State.
What Mother’s Cupboard lacks in size, it more than makes up for in quality. Their massive frittata was the star of an episode of the hit TV show “Man V. Food.”
J H/Google Maps The six-pound giant frittata is composed of eggs, hash browns, sausage, and pepperoni. Hardly anyone can finish it, needless to say!
The frittata may be the television star on the menu, but their pancakes are equally impressive. They’re massive!

Seriously. Fall-off-the-plate behemoths.

Part of the fun of eating at Mother’s Cupboard is watching the grill. The skilled cooks dart about wildly, working their magic throughout the tiny kitchen. Their speed and precision is amazing!

In addition to the pancakes’ remarkable size, they’re also incredibly delicious.
Keith Pang/Google Maps Top them with sugar, chocolate chips, blueberries, or just a little butter. No matter which way you like them, they’re great.
No matter what you order here, you’ll definitely go home full (and probably with a to-go container as well). They’ve got some of the best breakfasts in New York and are certainly a reminder to not judge a book by its cover!
