Nature in New Hampshire is unlike nature anywhere else. From mountains to forests, to the small but mighty coast, this is a great state for getting outside. There are lots of unfussy ways to do it. But these days we’re loving the ones that require a bit more planning. This canopy tours, located in the White Mountains, is a great example.

Located in the heart of the White Mountains, the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods has become an unrecognizable part of the New Hampshire landscape. It’s a great place to stay overnight, but it’s also the perfect base for enjoying activities in the area.

We especially love the zipline canopy tour that takes you soaring above the trees.

The Bretton Woods Canopy Tour is a great option for those who want to minimize their impact on the environment. The operation is completely sustainable. A part of this is making sure their tree platforms are made of wood that’s been locally harvested and than any wood used can be regenerated easily.

The fun begins at the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour base camp where visitors are outfitted with safety gear and taught how to enjoy the tour safely. With two guides per group, there’s constant support.

The ziplines on the tour are between 120 and 830 feet long and sit 165 feet off the ground. That’s a long way!

Two different sky bridges and three rappels that range from between nine and 65 feet make this an experience that definitely won’t get boring!

Between each activity there are two sky bridges. And you can rest at the 16 platforms that range in height from 10 to 70 feet in the air.

The experience is fun, but the sights are even better. There are views of Mount Washington and Rosebrook Canyon from the highest points in the course.

This is a great activity year-round and the winter is particularly beautiful. Make plans for any time of year and you’ll be glad you did.

This canopy tour isn’t the only cool thing about the area. The story behind this haunted hotel in New Hampshire is truly creepy.
