There Is A Massive Ice Racing Festival Headed To Wisconsin In February

Manawa, Wisconsin, pop. 1,400, is a small town with a big rodeo reputation. Every summer, it hosts “The Greatest Show on Dirt,” a rodeo that draws thousands of visitors to the city – it’s been around more than six decades.

But in the dead of winter, when the ground is covered in snow and the lakes are frozen with a thick layer of ice, the fun continues in Manawa. An ice racing fest called the Manawa Snodeo heats up the area with a lot of fast action and more than a few surprises. Here’s what you need to know about the Manawa Snodeo.

Manawa is located in Waupaca County. It’s about two hours from Madison or Milwaukee and just an hour’s drive from Green Bay. It’s also a quick snowmobile ride from many destinations!

The Snodeo takes place at Bear Lake Resort, which is located just south of Manawa on Bear Lake.

The event features high-speed snowmobile races on an oval track, as well as a lake cross event and radar runs – the radar gun will be picking up some high speeds!

Racers compete for trophies, cash, and bragging rights and everyone has a great time!

There’s much more to the Snodeo than snowmobiles. If it has a motor, there’s a good chance it will be racing at the Snodeo! The event includes motorcycle ice racing, ice car and truck drag racing, mini-bike racing, and ATV racing.

Off the race track, here’s plenty to see and do, including skydivers, hot air balloons, pyrotechnics, an aeronautical show, and a motorcycle display. Kids of all ages will have a great time!
