I can’t get enough of the Delaware fall foliage recently! We’re near peak fall foliage, so leaf peepers like myself are out in full force. I just love seeing the Green in Dover light up with the shades and hues of Fall, but this weekend, I think I’ll venture out to one of these parks to take a full fall foliage hike (try saying that three times fast!). Each of these locations offers a variety of hiking trails or pathways that will lead you through some of the most stunning fall foliage in Delaware.

  1. White Clay Creek State Park

Facebook / White Clay Creek State Park Just outside of Newark lies the stunning White Clay Creek state park, where the leaves seem to glow as they change from green to gold, red, and orange hues of fall. It almost looks like a fireworks show on the hillside. 750 Thompsons Station Road, Newark, DE 19711

  1. Alapocas Run State Park

Facebook / AR-WSP Follow any of the trails though Alapocas Run and you’ll encounter some of the most incredible Delaware fall foliage. What’s even better is that this park is in the middle of Wilmington, so if you live in the city, you don’t even have to travel that far.1914 W Park Dr, Wilmington, DE 19803

  1. Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Smyrna

Flickr / Pontla While most of Bombay Hook is marshland, the trees that surround the area produce fall foliage that reflects off of the marsh grasses. Take the Auto Tour during the “golden hour” right before sunset and you’ll be treated to some jaw-dropping sights.2591 Whitehall Neck Rd, Smyrna, DE 19977

  1. Lums Pond State Park, Bear

  1. Killens Pond State Park, Felton

Facebook / Killens Pond People often forget about Killens Pond once the waterpark is closed for the season, and that’s a huge mistake! Killens trails are quiet in the fall, so you can peep leaves and watch squirrels, deer and other critters make their winter preparations.5025 Killens Pond Rd, Felton, DE 19943

  1. Bellevue State Park, Wilmington

Facebook / Bellevue State Park - Richard Thompson Bellevue is my go-to suggestion for leaf peepers who want to bring their whole family to see Delaware fall foliage. The trails around the park are mostly paved, so they are accessible and easy for children and the elderly. Plus, the views you’ll have of trees changing color is almost unrivaled.800 Carr Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809

  1. The Hagley Museum, Wilmington

Facebook / Visit Delaware Check out all of the Hagley Museum on your visit to this DuPont Estate and you’ll certainly find some of the best examples of Delaware fall foliage in the well-maintained gardens. Those DuPonts certainly knew how to design and landscape! 200 Hagley Creek Rd, Wilmington, DE 19807

  1. Mt. Cuba Center, Hockessin

Facebook / Mt Cuba Center I am in love with the Mt. Cuba center year round, but when fall foliage peaks, there is no better place to be. The botanical garden comes alive! You can hike through the center for hours and ogle the picture-perfect fall views.3120 Barley Mill Rd Hockessin, Delaware

Any of these hikes might make you hungry, so when you’re done for the day, take advantage of the nice weather we have left and try out one of these 7 Delaware Restaurants Right On The River That You’re Guaranteed To Love.
