There’s one particular natural phenomenon that’s impressive when seen in person: granite tors.
Thomas Vrable / AllTrails Granite tors are lava formations that were formed 70-90 million years ago. Molten lava pushed up the earth’s crust, without quite breaking through the top.
The result are these towering granite boulders and pillars that you can see from miles away.

Take the Granite Tors Loop Trail, right outside Fairbanks, Alaska.

It’s 15 miles long through its entirety.
