Velvet Cream, which is also known as The Dip, is in Hernando. It opened in 1947, making it the oldest, continually running restaurant in DeSoto County.

The self-proclaimed “Burger Bazaar and Ice Cream Emporium” boasts a wall-sized menu that’s overflowing with eats and sweets. It wasn’t always that way, though.

Over the years, both the building and the menu have been expanded. Today, patrons can choose from over 250 ice cream flavor combos and more than 20 gourmet burgers.
