This Famous Hotel In New York Is Incredibly Historic

The Algonquin Hotel is located right in midtown Manhattan and is a designated New York City landmark.

Established in 1902, the hotel has changed hands a number of times in its history and is now affiliated with Marriott International.

Perhaps the hotel’s most famous resident is the live-in cat, which has run of the hotel. A cat has been present in the building since the early 1930s, when the hotel’s first owner-manager took in a stray.

The hotel restaurant famously gives a lunch discount to struggling writers.

For over a decade, the Algonquin Round Table met in the hotel restaurant. The group was made up of New York City writers and actors and they met almost daily at the hotel from 1919 to 1929.
