There are certainly some creepy places in Utah. We’ve brought you articles about many of the state’s supposedly haunted places. Today, however, we’re focusing on a road in the Beehive State that is said by many to be haunted by more than one ghost … drive this road after dark and you just might see some other-worldly spirits. Are you brave enough to drive on this haunted road in Utah?

Big Cottonwood Canyon Road starts at the mouth of the canyon and is about 15 miles long.

Google Utahns know that this canyon is one of the best spots in the state for recreation — you’ll find tons of hiking, cycling, rock climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing here.

Big Cottonwood Canyon Road is an absolutely breathtaking road to drive during the autumn months. During this time of year, the leaves are beautiful and the steep walls of the canyon are stunning.

But, as the sun starts to set, this canyon road gets a little creepy. In fact, this road becomes one of the most haunted places in Utah.

Mike Renlund/flickr Drivers report seeing several strange ghouls in this canyon.

During spring runoff, Big Cottonwood Creek runs fast and wild. This creek is deadly when the water is high, and many people have drowned over the years.

Rudy Reit/flickr Many people claim to have seen a young woman, dripping wet and distressed, along the side of the road. Pull over and try to assist her and you’ll find yourself alone on the side of the road — the wind whistling through the trees and an uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach.

This canyon is a popular spot for rock climbing, but several people have unfortunately plunged to their deaths from these steep, sheer rock walls to the canyon floor below.

Tristan Higbee/flickr You might run into a lone, male hitchhiker near the mouth of the canyon. As you pull up to let him in, he vanishes. Some people report hearing the clinking sound of the carabiners on his belt as he walks away, though they can no longer see him.

Other spirits are said to roam this canyon.

Utah Wildflowers/flickr Another male hitchhiker walks along the road with a dog. He and his dog may climb into your car, but when you look into your rearview mirror as you approach the bottom of the canyon, they’re both gone.

There’s no doubt that Big Cottonwood Canyon is one of Utah’s most beautiful places …
