Of course as always, we warn you be careful check the weather and conditions of the trail you choose before you head out, and of course make sure to dress warmly and wear practical hiking boots. But as long as you’re prepared, Southern California is an absolutely awesome place to hike. If you’re looking for some great trails to to trek in SoCal, this list is a great place to start. Just keep in mind that some of the hikes on this list are only for more experienced hikers. Is Southern California a good place to visit in the winter? Southern California is not only a good place to visit in winter, it is a GREAT one! If you are not a fan of the cold, SoCal is a great place to escape it, with temperatures regularly hitting the high sixties even in the dead of winter. It will get chillier at night, and we definitely recommend packing some warm clothes, but you are more likely to be able to enjoy some outdoor adventures with fewer layers than you would in the Northeast for example.
