If you’re hankering to see a waterfall, but really don’t want to put in too much time or work to get to it, hanker no further than Twin Falls Upper Trail in Sunset, SC. In just a mere 2.3 miles, you’ll get yourself right atop a lovely 75-foot waterfall.

This trail is located within the 50,000-acre Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Area. It’s just three miles off of Highway 178. As you meander along, you might notice railroad tracks littered throughout; this trail was previously utilized for logging by a lumber company until the 1920s.

You’ll follow the trail beside Reedy Cove Creek. While the waterfall at the top is, of course, the hero of this trail, depending on the time of year, there’s a chance that you’ll see sporadic cascades throughout the creek.

You’ll come across an assortment of different trees within these woods, including dogwoods, beech trees, hemlocks, and red maples.

The trail is primarily wooded and you’ll find dirt paths, timber steps, and footbridges strewn throughout. Although the trail is relatively short, remember that you are heading up to a waterfall.

Reedy Cove Creek eventually turns into Seneca River and then drains into the Savannah River.

You’ll know you’ve gotten to your destination when you see the small observation hut. Head out for a splendid view overlooking the falls.

And that’s where you’ll see Twin Falls Waterfall in all of its glory.
