Maine has long been considered one of the friendliest states in the country. Between the people who are always there to help a neighbor in need and those who welcome visitors, it’s no wonder folks appreciate time spent here. While you’re bound to find a smiling face just about anywhere, a few towns in the Pine Tree State made the list of most friendly spots in the country, including Kennebunkport, which we happen to believe is the friendliest town in Maine, too!
Kennebunkport recently ranked 7th in a list of the top 20 most friendly town’s in America created by Expedia. Also in the top 20 were Ogunquit at #9 and Bar Harbor at #16.

All three are lovely, but you can’t deny that Kennebunkport is deserving of the #7 spot.

It’s also home to some of Maine’s most beloved eateries. The Clam Shack is an institution here and their lobster rolls are a right of passage for those newly living here or visiting.

The town is home, at lest on a part-time basis, to quite a few notable figures including former President George Bush and his family.

When it’s warm outside, the beaches here are some of the most popular in the state, including Mother’s Beach which has a gentle surface perfect for kids.

While the town is known primarily as a summer vacation destination, those who live in Maine all year also know that winter is a special time of year. Each year the annual Christmas Prelude brings joy and merriment to the area with shopping and eating specials and a fun tree lighting in Dock Square.
