There are so many wonderful trails and outdoor areas to explore, many of which are probably new to you. This one, a hike featuring beautiful waterfalls located near the midcoast of Maine, is a beautiful and easy way to see some of the most lovely scenery in the state.
Mariaville Falls Preserve can be found in Mariaville, near Ellsworth. Hidden in the woods, this is a beautiful way to find some peace and solitude without going heavily off-the-beaten path.

The trail is a simple 1.4-miles long and leads on and around the Union River.

To get to the falls, follow the Mariaville Falls Trail at the parking area. The loop joins the Fisherman’s Trail, which leads directly to the waterfall.

Once you’ve taken in the flowing waterfall, simply continue on the trail to make a loop back to the parking area.
