It’s no secret that Alabama is well known for its incredible hiking trails. While some of these trails are difficult to navigate and are definitely geared toward advanced hikers, others are quite easy and totally perfect for beginners. The trail leading to Sougahoagdee Falls, which is nestled inside North Alabama’s William B. Bankhead National Forest, is around 4.5 miles out and back.

Getting there is quite easy. At the beginning of Brushy Creek Bridge on Hickory Grove Road, you’ll follow the creek upstream. Be prepared to experience creek crossings and some difficult terrain. Don’t let these two features worry you. Overall, it’s an easy hike.

One of the greatest experiences of hiking to Sougahoagdee Falls is that you’ll discover several smaller waterfalls along the way. You’ll also encounter many boulders and lots of lush greenery. It’s pretty amazing that for such a short hike, you’ll be surrounded by all kinds of beautiful natural scenery.
