Winter may seem like an odd time to explore America’s national parks. After all, wouldn’t you rather stay cuddled up indoors in front of the fireplace? However, you’d be surprised at the sheer amount of beauty that awaits you at this time of year. Even in the heart of winter, you’ll find plenty of reasons to plan your trip to one of the country’s most beloved parks. Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the very best national parks to visit in Utah. There are five national parks in Utah, and Bryce Canyon is tucked away in the southern part of the state. It belongs at the very top of your travel bucket list, especially during the winter off season. It’s a great opportunity to not only embrace the most remarkable wintry landscape you’ve ever seen, but you’ll also avoid the crowds that flock here in the summertime months.
Of course, Bryce Canyon National Park is beautiful at any time of year. But we feel like it’s especially stunning come winter. This national park is renowned for its unearthly-looking rock spire formations. Add in a dust of snow and they become even more spectacular.

Visiting Bryce Canyon National Park after a recent snowfall is a real treat. The magnificent color contrast between the red rock and white snow is magical. It’s an absolutely breathtaking experience, and relatively few get to enjoy it. Winter is one of the least busy times of the year for the park.

The park service embraces its winter season by hosting several programs for winter visitors. Two examples of these activities are full moon snowshoe adventures and fascinating astronomy programs. There’s even an annual Winter Festival that takes place on President’s Day Weekend.
