The oldest original building in downtown Spring, Wunsche Bros Café & Saloon is a Prohibition-era landmark dating to 1902.
Wunsche Bros Opened by local brothers Charlie and Dell Wunsche, the saloon was built using lumber from the Wunsche family mill and served as a hotel, brothel, and watering hole until the consumption of alcohol was made illegal in 1919.
In 1949 - nearly two decades after Prohibition was repealed - the saloon was sold and turned into a café.
Facebook/Wunsche Brothers A fire broke out in 2015, but miraculously, the structural integrity of the building remained sound. Three years later, the Kosh family purchased the saloon, bringing its glory days back to life with painstaking renovations.
As is the case with many old buildings, the saloon is rumored to be haunted - by the brothers who founded it, no less.
